North Shore Community School
North Shore Community School is a public, tuition-free charter school serving students in grades K-6 featuring small class sizes, free busing available from Duluth and Two Harbors, and a commitment to offering a broad education with specialists in physical education, art, music and environmental studies.
Special features include:
- weekly student access to on-site library with up-to-date collection of 19,000+ books
- outdoor learning and recreation opportunities with a nature trail, school forest, four outdoor classrooms, hockey and rec ice rink with warming house, and outdoor equipment include cross country skis, skates, and snowshoes
- recess before lunch- 20 minutes/day (kindergarten has additional morning recess)
- additional academic and enrichment opportunities such as multi-age learning, community involvement, curriculum-based field trips, band for fifth and sixth grade students, and after school programs
